Medieval Day at the Castle - Pyrenean Museum - Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Since the 12th century, one of the prestigious residences of the Counts and Countesses of Bigorre has stood on a rocky foothill in the heart of Lourdes. This often-coveted castle has withstood fierce sieges. Today, it houses the Pyrenean Museum.

On Sunday, August 9th, the Lourdes Castle will be celebrating and will recapture its medieval atmosphere all day from 9 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5 pm!

Throughout the day, the varied program will allow you to learn more about the Middle Ages. You can immerse yourself in military life with a medieval encampment, a presentation of weapons, combat demonstrations and an introduction to archery with the associations Les Archers de Fébus and Qu'em Biarnés! as well as the warring roosters.

Discover the art of woodworking with woodturner Łukasz Plakowski, and the art of illumination. Not forgetting the stonemason and the apothecary from the Compagnie du Petit Meschin who will share all their secrets with you.

Want to delve into local history? The medieval association "Au pays des sept vallées" will be strolling throughout the day, reenacting a key moment in the history of the Knights Templar in the County of Bigorre. Regarding the castle's history, several guided tours will be offered, and children can participate in heraldry workshops.

Relax in the gardens while listening to the gentle music of our troubadour, Serge Cladères. Has all this whetted your appetite? Then let yourself be surprised by the delicious medieval recipes offered by the Tailloir association.
